Student Investigations of Crystal Cove and Nearby Waters

In the fall of 1999, students enrolled in ESC130: Introduction to Oceanography Field Experience at Fullerton College commenced oceanographic studies of Crystal Cove and nearby coastal waters. The results of these investigations were prepared in the form of short scientific papers and submitted for publication to The Remarkable Ocean World.

These pages satisfy the requirements for the eight-week course and serve as a valuable resource for future student investigators. Perhaps most importantly, these pages serve as an important database for evaluating long-term trends in oceanographic properties of the region and assessing human impacts on Crystal Cove and its surrounding waters.

It is with no small measure of pride that I publish these papers for the world to see and use. Countless hours went into their preparation and these students deserve praise for their insights and persistence in what for 99.9% of them is the first scientific investigation they have ever conducted.

This project is a works-in-progress. If you note any errors or omissions or if you have any questions regarding the data, please feel free to contact W. Sean Chamberlin, PhD, Professor, Fullerton College.
