This activity involves charting the progress of the submarine Nautilus and detailing the various sights and oceanographic phenomena it encounters as it cruises around the world ocean. Using the tools of the internet, you'll track the course of the submarine and create links to information on the people, places, creatures, events, ocean phenomena and related things it encounters throughout the novel. These links may include summaries you have created or they may consist of hyperlinks to real-time data, biographical or historical sketches, ocean libraries or other information found on the world wide web. You are only limited by your imagination.
To create your interactive map, you'll use the full-version of the map below. Using a graphics editing program (or a pre-constructed clickable image map I provide), you'll create a page of summaries and links that includes the following:
