Go to page 207 of the study guide and read it
go to http://www.metamath.com//lsweb/dvclearn.htm (revised from study guide) and read the information there
take the learning styles survey and make notes on your results, i.e. what kind of learner are you, according to the survey
go to http://www.ldrc.ca/projects/miinventory/miinventory.php? and read about the eight styles of learning
take the multiple intelligences survey by filling out the required information and clicking on Begin at the bottom of the page. Make notes on your results.
go to http://www.cmi-lmi.com/kingdom.html and read the information on Kingdomality there.
take the Kingdomality Personal Preference Profile by clicking on Enter at the bottom of the page. Make notes on your results.

Using the notes that you took from each of the three surveys, answer these questions:

1) What have you learned about your style of learning, your "type" of intelligence and the type of person you may be?
2) How can this information help you to become a better learner?
3) Using this information and anything else you know about yourself, what changes can you make TODAY to become a more effective and successful learner?

Read what other classmates have posted and respond to TWO of their postings. You should have a total of three (3) posts for this assignment.

This assignment is due no later than 1155PM, Sunday, February 8, 2004. The time is determined at http://www.time.gov. Completion of all parts of this assignment earns you twenty (20) points. Partial assignments receive zero (0) points. Repeat: You should have a total of three (3) posts for this assignment.

Ive learned that i am a auditory learner which is a verbal learner, a linguistic learner, and i am a white knite icon_lol.gif . I learn best by speaking aloud, saying, hearing, and seeing words and working w/a buddy.I like the white knite because it said i was a true giver who shares wealth, time and life with others. on the bad side icon_sad.gif it said i could be impulsive decisive, sentimental and misdirected. so i have to be carful of those traits.

This was a fun assisignment,
I actually learned a few things. My style is " Visual/Nonverbal Learning Style. Which is very true. I always look at pictures first. Then I'll read the article.
Also I think flash cards will help. They have worked in the past. I took chemistry a couple of semesters ago. I loved drawing the diagrams of the chemicals.
I am a sheppard, I tend to my human flock, which is so funny because I work in a active retirement home and is the activity director, I not to thrilled with some of the jobs I have to do but, I love my residents, I want to protect them and love them. :D

I have learned that my life revolves around music. I basically already knew that, but its still good to hear it. It also says that math and science are not one of my strong points in my learning abilitys. It says that i am a need organized conservative individual, which is absolutely true. I hate to spend money, and i hate to be messy. THis information will make me a better learner by making me focus more in math and science, rather than the other subjects. IT doesnt mean i will disgard my other subjects, just give a bit more focus to the math and science classes. I feel my life is rather complete right now. I have pretty much everything i want, except for a better education. You can never have to much education, and i plan to seek that goal.

Hey your just like me. Pictures always help me learn better. I feel that with a diagram or chart, i am capable of comprehending the lecture more.
Also we are both unhappy with some of our job decisions. I know im young and i've only had two jobs, but one of those was horrible. I had to work at sears in the beadsheets and towel department. Believe me, when your working with women over 50, and folding towels for 8 hours a day, you'd have regrets to.

Well tiffany, your the only other post on here right now besides me and yvonne. Apparently the others are slacking at the moment. So i guess i'll just reply to you. Me and you are completely different. I learn best with pictures and charts rather than speaking. I actually hate working with buddy's because they distract me. Well if was a good looking girl i'd have no problem with working with a buddy, but it would still be distracting. Even though it says misdirected, dont feel down , i used to be misdirected until i figured out education is the key.

While doing this assignment I found out I happened to be a Visual/verbal learner. Which is true because I do benefit more from lectures rather than reading textbooks. It is also true because I do use flashcards to help me study. icon_lol.gif

I am also a shepard and I tend to my human flock. Which is true I always tend to my family, friends and co-workers to make sure their content. And for some reason I am the person they come to for any type of advice or comfort. I found out that being a shepard you are to be understanding, caring, dependable, reliable and I do submit those traits. On the other hand I do admit that I can be closeminded at times, which is one of the negative traits of being a shepard.

Yvonne, I think what you do can be hard at times, but you are bringing something good to that community. You watch over them and you are there for them in any way you can be. I give you much credit for what you do! icon_smile.gif

I found out I am a visual/verbal learner, a mathematic style, and am a sherpherd. I am not really surprised, but I found these surveys enlightening to see my strenghs and weaknesses. Friends won't tell you these things - we need computers to! I liked the suggestion of using hi-liters and post-its and flash cards to remember things better, and will use them more. I do know I have to have notes in writing in front of me for studying and they have to be well-organized. I also like being a shepherd as I have been a manager for many years and loved it and hope to re-enter the workplace as a manager someday again. This was fun - hard to believe this was homework. icon_biggrin.gif

Cassie, it sounds like we have some styles in common. I am a visual/verbal learner and a shepherd as well. I agree, I can be very close-minded as well. I have trouble handling new things and surprises. There is a book called "who moved my cheese?" for people like me. I think the good part about visual/verbal learners though is that we tend to do well in school because teachers gear their lessons through reading and lectures, which we like. Good luck in this class.

Yvonne,
You have a very special career, and should be greatly admired. It takes a lot of love and patience. If you are a shepherd, you are gifted to lead others, with compassion. Keep your chin up. God bless you.

I learned alot from this assignment. i always knew i learned alot better by hearing rather then reading. this assignment taught me to improve my learning skills. i learned that i should sit in front of class rather towards the back because most the time during lecture i get easily distracted and start doodling in my notebook. since im more of a hands on leraned i should try to take teachers that more of a hands on class then others. also rather sitting towards the back of the room i should sit in the front. also when studying i should read aloud so it helps me to remember what i reviews. icon_razz.gif
