Write a 250-word minimum classified advertisement for an ocean-related career aboard the Nautilus that you would like to pursue. The scope here is broad: potential ocean-related careers could include a wide range of jobs, such as science teachers, marine biologists, military personnel, lifeguards, underwater tour guide, hairdresser, even a psychic who communicates with dolphins (which a former student pursued). Any type of job that might possibly be served aboard Nautilus is game (even if such crewmembers do not exist in the novel). You are only limited by your imagination AND your ability to relate this career to a study of oceanography. Included in your ad must be the official title of the position, the oceanographic and personal qualifications (use your learning styles and multiple intelligence information here), how this career relates to oceanography, the potential salary range and who to contact for an interview. Respond to two of your classmate's postings by commenting on the quality and thoroughness of their ad (is the position well-defined? is it clear what's required? does the job relate to oceanography?, etc.) Your response must be a minimum of 100 words for each classmate.

Attention!... Calling all ready and willing individuals who are seeking an opportunity of a lifetime. Nautilus is looking for a few good men and women 18 years and over who are courageous and strong enough to man its functions to help defend those who seek to destroy marine life. There are those who are helping us in the cause, but none is as powerful and committed to defend the sea as Nautilus. Join us! Become a mariner aboard Nautilus. You will help defend the seas and protect those lives of the ocean. Come aboard and serve under the great Captain Nemo, who has won successful battles against those who invade in the seas. You must be over 18 and simply have a passion for the ocean. You will not only be defending the oceans, but you will also gain experience aboard the submarine and obtain a new skill through the many jobs we have here as a mariner. You will navigation skills, cooking skills, engineering skills, weaponery, leadership, etc. Here aboard Nautilus, we work together not only as a team but as a family. We start at a salary of $500 a week, which food, clothing, and lodging is already provided. Its a very good opportunity, do not miss out!...Contact me, Sharky at the Lincoln Pier on Saturdays from 10 am - 12 noon. My booth will be there...Stop by and help defend the seas!!!!

WOW!! This is a great job posting. I really like the format, how you laid everything out in easy to read paragraphs. You incorporated all aspects of a modern job posting that you would see today in the newspaper, or online. I like the fact that you came up with a position that is very imaginative, and unique. I also like how you incorporated the different learning and personality styles with in this posting, and how they are realistic to the position you posted. The qualifications for this position are great, because it allows someone like me to pursue their dream job of being a radio personality and actually have a shot at getting the job, but I would like to get paid A LOT more than 40K annually Very Happy . Also the line: “Please do not attempt to call us. We will call you if we are interested. Thank you for your consideration” is classic. I have read NUMEROUS job postings with this line, for some odd reason I find it amusing. Overall, great posting!!

Again, another thorough job posting. I really like the format, how you laid everything out in easy to read paragraphs. The first introduction paragraph is OUTSTANDING!! By starting the posting off in such a manner, people will be sure to stop and read the entire posting. Even if they are skimming through postings the line that reads: “Are you tired of low salary, lousy benefits and a job that is dead end?” will cause A LOT of people to stop and read further, because many people feel this way about their job, especially if they are looking through the classifieds for a new one Very Happy . Also, you incorporated all aspects of a modern job posting that you would see today in the newspaper, or online. Very well written advertisement!!
