Here's a list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about Usernames and Passwords.
A username and password are unique top-secret codes needed to gain access to exams and restricted pages of this web site. Your username and password are assigned by the instructor. Each student has his or her own username and password. Under no circumstances should you share or let someone borrow your username and password as your grade could be compromised.
At the end of this Introduction section, you will find a link to a student-teacher contract of understanding. You must send the teacher-student contract of understanding by the second week of classes or you will be dropped. Once you properly submit your contract to the instructor, you will be sent your username and password.
When you are ready to take an online exam and click on the link for that exam, you will be asked to enter your username and password. In the box marked username, you will type in your exact username and in the box marked password you will type in your exact password. Note that usernames and passwords are case-sensitive, meaning that capital letters are treated differently than small letters. Make sure you type your username and password exactly as it was sent to you. You will also be promted for a username and password when you go to the Forums and possibly other pages.
The first thing to do is to check your e-mail and make sure that 1) you sent your contract (with all the proper information); and 2) there isn't a message from me that contains your username and password or a request for additional information. You must send the student-teacher contract of understanding to get a username and password. Send me another e-mail with your contract or call me if for some reason, it appears that I am not responding to your e-mail. You will not be able to proceed in the class without a username and password so floow the guidelines and be persistent until you get one.
First, make sure that you are typing them exactly, letter by letter. If that doesn't work, then e-mail me immediately. It's possible I misentered your username and password or that it didn't go through properly. The first thing you should do when you receive your username and password is test it out. The location of test links will be announced on the Daily Announcement page.
In a course like this, students need to feel comfortable. Restricting access to the instructor and classmates insures that only these people are able to post and view comments. Knowing this helps build a level of comfort and trust into the coursework. Unprotected forums are especially vulnerable to lewd and inflammatory comments by persons outside the class. By protecting these pages, you can be certain that only your instructor and classmates view your postings. If anyone does post something improper or inflammatory, you can be assured that action can be taken to correct the situation.
