Welcome to Exploring the World Ocean!

December 16th, 2006

Hello. I’m Sean Chamberlin, biological oceanographer, professor in the Earth Sciences department at Fullerton College (Fullerton, California, USA), part-time lecturer at Cal State Fullerton, and co-author of Exploring the World Ocean, a new, inquiry-based, introductory oceanography textbook published by McGraw-Hill Higher Education. The textbook has been 3 and 1/2 years in the writing and I couldn’t have done it without the help of my good friend and co-author Tommy Dickey, physical oceanographer, AGU fellow, and professor at University of California Santa Barbara (Santa Barbara, California, USA). Tommy’s also an avid tennis player! Me…I prefer scuba diving.

The textbook is due in bookstores on January 12, 2007, and we sure would be happy if you bought a copy and told your friends. It’s your purchase of our book that supports this site and helps us inspire young people everywhere to learn more about the world ocean. Check it out! And if you would like a desk copy for adoption in your classroom…or simply to know more about the book and how it may help you teach students about the ocean, feel free to drop us a line. We’d love to hear from you!
